What the Press & Gamers Are Saying

Spoiler Alert: Here Is An Entire Play-Through Of VAST – The Star On No Map

February 10, 2017

“What you will find however, is a certain indefinable quality, a playability that can only come from being made by a small, passionate, independent team. That feeling you get from home-made bread or handcrafted furniture? That’s VAST. …fire it up on the fifth-generation Apple TV 4K, and the words can’t believe it’s not butter spring to mind.” (Read More)

VAST in Top 3 FPS Shooters on Apple TV EVER

January 13, 2018

“I am absolutely on board the Astrogun train and I truly believe that Xander Davis and the gang will create a universe that is not only interesting, but deep enough to make players care about the characters you interact with. This episodic adventure is small on content with only one episode available at this time, but big on potential and it’s obvious from the first time you wake from cryosleep. Promising voice acting and stunning 4K visuals are sure to be improved upon in the near future and guess what…. It’s an Apple TV 4K timed exclusive!!!! Yes, you heard that right. Just buy it! Right Now! Are you still here? Buy this game and come back. Thank You.” (Read More)

VAST Episode 1 Launch Review

December 19, 2017

“VAST is a work in progress, but you can see the greatness waiting in the wings. Let me put it this way…. I actually cared about the characters in this game and I wanted to make sure I protected them. That is something special in my book. For the $9.99 USD, this game is a steal in my opinion if for nothing more than the potential it carries. I want to see this universe reveal itself before me and I want to become part of it. I feel something here that may not be immediately apparent to some gamers. But it’s there nonetheless. Don’t be afraid to give this game a try. The first episode is short on content and can be seen as a work in progress, but the signs are all there. The frozen star beckons me and will beckon you if you keep an open mind. Buy this game. Period!” (Read More)

Interview: Xander Davis (Part 1) – From Triple-A to Indie Gaming on Apple TV 4K

December 21, 2017

“Astrogun’s fearless leader – Xander Davis – was kind enough to set aside time for an interview, with the result being a fascinating, deep dive into his journey from work on Triple A games, to independence with Astrogun, and the pros and cons of working with consumer tech giant Apple. If, like me, you enjoy glimpses behind the curtain at the machinations of game development, and the stories of artists and auteurs exploring their craft, then I’m certain you’ll find this a satisfying read.” (Read More)

Explore VAST – Cosmic Treasure Hunters exclusively on Apple TV

December 20, 2017

“First-person shooters are a rare breed on the Apple TV. It’s even more rare when they’re exclusive to Apple TV, but that’s exactly what Astrogun, LLC, has done with their episodic space adventure VAST – Cosmic Treasure Hunters. It does look pretty slick for an Apple TV game, right?” (Read More)

SiniScope Gaming: Facebook Review

December 19, 2017

“Played through the first episode of VAST from Astrogun and while short, I am very excited to see the future episodes. Looks beautiful really and has some nice touches and while not perfect, and perfection shouldn’t be expected from something new like this, it’s a very nice experience. The characters are lovable and the gameplay is tight. Could use the ol’ “Invert Y-Axis” for old people like me who are used to using it, but was very easy to get going and to kill the interestingly designed enemies. There is just something about this game that makes me feel like a kid again as it feels fresh and new. I am hopeful that the team at Astrogun can put together more episodes that are a bit longer, but it’s a very good start. Great job Astrogun.”

‘VAST’ is a Cool-Looking Sci-Fi First-Person Shooter that’s Exclusive to the Apple TV

December 18, 2017

“There’s definitely no doubt that the 4th gen Apple TV and especially the 5th gen box are very capable gaming devices, and long-time games industry veteran Xander Davis and his studio Astrogun wanted to release a “real deal” first-person shooter for Apple TV in an effort to validate it as a real gaming system. They released their game called VAST – Cosmic Treasure Hunters last week, and it looks really awesome. While there’s no indication it’ll ever come to iOS, I still think VAST seems like a cool game and a cool addition to the Apple TV’s library, so if you’re interested you can grab the game on the Apple TV App Store right now for $9.99.” (Read More)

SiniScope Gaming

December 16, 2017

“I have been playing this game for the past hour or so and I have to say that there is something amazingly and lovably quirky about it. It’s definitely not your average shooter as it feels like something new and fresh like the first time I played Doom on my 486 computer or GoldenEye on the N64. The visuals on the Apple TV 4K look fantastically crisp and the animation is silky smooth most of the time. The characters and enemies are creative and the higher resolution creates an almost rubberized/plastic reality feel to the enemy models which was awesome in my opinion! There are a few issues that could be sorted out such as the addition of some control options or the elevator mechanics, but all in all I am really enjoying it. This was a very nice Christmas surprise for me personally and I am happy that it is on the Apple TV first. Thanks!!!”
